Grand Cayman Island Getaway

Turquoise blue Caribbean Sea, the fine coral sands of Seven Mile Beach, and the culinary capital of the Caribbean are just a few of the things that make Grand Cayman Island the perfect island getaway. A seven day stay in this island paradise left us relaxed, rejuvenated, and longing to come back. We chose to stay at the Grand Cayman Marriott  Beach Resort, and this hotel did not disappoint.

Located on world famous Seven Mile Beach, this beach house styled resort ranks number one in my book as the best hotel we have ever stayed at.

Location: Excellent – situated right on the coral sands of beautiful Seven Mile Beach and only minutes away from Georgetown. Perfect for magnifecent sunset views.

Staff: Excellent – pleasant, courteous, attentive, and engaging.  I can say this is the best service we have ever received from a hotel…top notch!

Accomadations: Excellent – very clean, spacious rooms with comfortable beds and private balconies. The hotel was recently remodeled to provide a “beachouse” experience. The perfect atmosphere for a tropical island stay.

Dining: Excellent – choice of oceanfront, poolside, or inside dining areas. Delicious, gourmet food with a menu for everyone’s taste. They even have themed dinner parties several nights a week.

Ammenities: Excellent – pool, spa, fitness center, indoor and outdoor event and meeting venues, and water activity kiosk on the property.

Here is our incredible sunset view from the oceanfront Veranda restaurant the first night we arrived.

The island is small and this made for extremely relaxing and enjoyable days. We could plan for one sightseeing activity in the morning or early afternoon and then spend the rest of the day lounging on the beach, swimming in the pool, and floating in the turquoise blue sea until sunset.

Each evening included a walk on the very “fluffy” sands of Seven Mile Beach. I usually don’t bring long pants on tropical vacations; however, this time I brought along a few light weight pants and they proved to be extremely comfortable and cool. I paired these brown and white striped cotton pants by Angie with a vintage Cabi brown ruffled top tied at the waist for one of our evening beach strolls. These pants roll up easily for dipping your feet and ankles into the warm beautiful blue sea.

One of our favorite evenings at the resort was the S’mores night beach party. The resort sets us up S’mores stations on the beach and guests are invited to make their own S’mores over crackling bonfires on the beach.

And each day ended with a gorgeous view of the sunset. The hotel has several floating trampolines anchored in the water right off of the hotel beach. These proved to be the perfect seat for viewing the golden glowing sunsets.

What a beautiful way to end each day.

Stay tuned for the next post in which we will visit the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park.

Until then, stay stylish and comfortable.
