A Kenwood Inn and Spa New Year’s Weekend

I usually work from 6am to 8pm each year on New Year’s Eve. A 14 hour work day leaves me exhausted with no desire to do anything but plop myself on the sofa when I get home. Needless to say, our New Year’s Eve evenings are pretty uneventful. This year; however, was a different story. As luck would have it, I was able to leave work early and had the next two days off. To celebrate, we decided to book a mini vacation at the Kenwood Inn and Spa.

This beautiful, secluded Mediterranean style inn and spa located in Kenwood, Ca in Sonoma County turned out to be the perfect two day getaway. We arrived around 5:30pm and were treated with the most stunning view as we walked into the reception lobby.

I no longer felt like I was only 25 minutes away from home, but rather in a tiny Mediterranean village. The friendly staff greeted us with Prosecco and smiles and we were led to our very spacious, ever so comfortable and cozy room.

We proceeded to walk around the enchanting and magical grounds of the inn for a while before our New Year’s Eve dinner reservations.

The heated pool and spa looked inviting, but alas, it was too cold to jump in.

Although there was music and drinks after dinner near the courtyard, we decided to skip the celebration because of the cold and headed back for a relaxing evening in our room by the fireplace.

And, for the first time in many years, I didn’t even make it to midnight. The king size bed with pillow top mattress, down comforter, and warm fireplace proved to be just too inviting.

After a good night’s restful sleep, we woke up the next morning to this beautiful view of the pool from our balcony.

Next we were off to enjoy the hearty breakfast included with our stay and the picturesque view out to the courtyard from the restaurant.

The vine covered archway leading to and from the restaurant is charming as well.

We were then ready for our couple’s message at The Spa. You can choose to have your couple’s massages in a rustic, tiled veranda that overlooks the pool. The curtains are drawn during your massage and the space is heated so that you don’t even notice that you are outside. Ahhhhhh.

We then headed to the town of Sonoma where we ate lunch and shopped around the charming Sonoma Plaza. I chose to wear one of my most comfortable and favorite weekend outfits. The space-dyed M’Leggings with attached matching mini skirt and blue heathered long sleeve tee shirt are from the Fall 2016 cabi collection. Both pieces are so incredibly soft and comfortable. The M’Leggings are a staple in my wardrobe now. If you love leggings but like a bit more coverage than the average legging provides, these are for you. The cabi 2017 Spring Collection¬† offers the leggings in a solid navy blue. I added the maroon, taupe, and light blue colored wrap for warmth. The Sienna flexible knee-high Bussola boots have become my favorite boot this winter. They are water-resistant and are constructed of a stretchy microfiber that hug your legs.

Back at the Inn, there was more “just hanging out” by the fireside as it started to rain. This proved to be a great chance to catch up on some reading and blogging.

The restaurant is closed after breakfast on Sunday, but the Intermezzo service is available round the clock. Dinner was an appetizer of the chef’s selection of assorted cheese, Kenwood Pickles, Mostarda, and Lavash. We also ordered the Raw Kale and Chicory Caesar salad.¬† The portions were generous and the food was tasty.

The next morning, I took one last chance to relax by the fireplace before I had to head back to work and reality. The shea infused whimsical lounge socks from Bath and Body Works were a Christmas gift from one of my best friends and kept my feet warm and cozy.

Now it’s time to leave. Goodbye Kenwood Inn and Spa. We hope to visit with you again next year.

Until the next post, stay stylish and comfortable.
