Polka Dots – Not Just for Kids Anymore

I have no idea why, but I used to think Polka dots were strictly for children’s clothing, that these adorable little dots didn’t have a place in my adult world. They were a pattern for kids and Minnie Mouse only.

I had a change of heart this weekend, though, on my weekly Target run. As I was rolling my cart down the aisle past the women’s clothing, a polka dot patterned jumpsuit by Who What Wear caught my eye and so I decided to try it on.

Once I tried this piece on, I instantly fell in love. The wrap V-neck top and tie waist coupled with the cropped wide leg pant give this piece a classy, sophisticated style. But wait, will this be versatile too? I start to think of the many ways I can style this piece and have to stop….need to get back to my errands…..need dish soap and hand lotion. Focus.

Once I was back home, I tried out a few of looks, two that will be perfect for the office and one casual weekend look. Here I styled the jumpsuit with an off-white linen blazer and black ankle strap low heeled shoe which will work well in the office.

Because this small black and white polka dot pattern acts as a neutral, the shoe options are endless. For another office look, I chose a richly colored red shoe for an added pop of color and paired the jumpsuit with a black cropped jacket.

And for a casual weekend look, I slipped into some kicks and layered a white camisole underneath the V-neck.

Polka dots, you now have a place in my wardrobe and my world.

Until the next post, stay stylish and comfortable.
