Sedona: Sweeping Vistas and Mii amo Spa

Sedona Airport Overlook-

Welcome to the second of a three part blog post on Sedona, Arizona. During the last post, we went shopping at the Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village and this week, we will be touring some of Sedona’s best views and then relaxing in the calming and understated beauty of the Mii amo Spa.

I recently visited Sedona for the first time on a fun-filled, five day vacation with two of my best friends. Our first day consisted of a scenic tour of Sedona followed by a relaxing afternoon at the Mii amo Spa. We started our day off by jumping in our tiny tour bus and driving up to Airport Mesa at the Sedona Airport. The view from the top is stunning as you look over West Sedona. I feel an overwhelming calm and peacefulness. This is said to be one of the strongest vortex sites in Sedona and I’m not quite sure if I am feeling the energy of the vortex or simply the stunning beauty of the view.  If you look to the farthest right of the rock formation on the picture above, you will see a rock that is called Coffee Pot Rock.

One more impressive view from the Airport Mesa.

We now hop back in our tiny tour bus and trek out to the Chapel of the Holy Cross. This chapel, which is built into the side of the buttes, took 18 months to complete and was completed in 1956.

The road up to the chapel was being paved the day of our tour, so we were not able to see the inside. Extremely disappointed, we continue on. We perk up as we stop for a look at the red rock landmarks of Bell Rock….

and Courthouse Rock.

We stop at one more sweeping vista with no name, but just as much astounding beauty as the other red rock formations.

Sports Dress-

You will see me in dresses most of the time while traveling in warm weather simply because they are so comfortable to wear. Non-restrictive clothing equals comfortable clothing. I chose a sports dress with light and dark green stripes. This dress packs easily, resists wrinkles, and keeps you cool for warm weather travel.  Although this particular dress I’ve had for a while, similar sport dresses can be found at prAna and Title Nine. The cotton hat by Scala has UPF 50 sun protection and is one of my all-time favorites because it’s packable and you can wear the brim turned either up or down to create different looks and different levels of sun protection. Just pull the hat from your suitcase or backpack and fluff up. Voilà!

Our tour is now over and we are ready to embark on the next part of  our day….total rest and relaxation at the Mii amo Spa located on the Enchantment Resort property where we are staying. The clean, minimalist lines present an understated beauty set against the back drop of the red rock of Boynton Canyon. I am ready for a massage!

I walk to the outdoor pool to relax before my massage, but alas, it is too hot for me.

I make my way back to the indoor pool. I sit and read while listening to the soothing sounds of the pool waterfalls.

I get my spa treatment and it feels as if I’m floating back to my room. Vacations are good.

Stay tuned for the final post in the Sedona series for one more sweeping vista and the Grand Canyon.

Until next time, stay stylish and comfortable.
