Many tend to shy away from yellow because they believe it is a difficult color to wear. You may wonder if yellow is a color you will buy and never end up wearing because it may not be versatile enough. If you don’t wear a lot of bright colors, you may not feel comfortable with wearing yellow. However, that vibrant, bright color is exactly what makes yellow so fun to wear! Yellow instantly lifts your mood and brightens your day. And by pairing with neutrals, you will find that yellow is an extremely versatile color choice. In this post, we will explore how to use a few basics you may already have in your closet to create several outfits with this fantastically fun and cheery color.
Today, my star of the show is a basic wardrobe foundation piece in yellow…..the cardigan. This soft yellow cropped cardigan is from a prior year cabi clothing line and I’ll be pairing it back to several other neutral wardrobe basics. White denim, green khaki pants, a basic gray tee, and a dark wash button down shirt.
Yellow adds a wonderful pop of color to almost any neutral and that is what makes this color so easy to wear. I love the classic pairing of white bottoms and a simple gray tee, which I usually top with a denim jacket. When I want to brighten things up a bit, I simply switch out the denim jacket with a cropped yellow cardigan for an instant color pop. Here I am wearing a neutral taupe ankle boot sandal by Earth Brands. The cushioned foot bed and arch support create the perfect shock absorption and have made this my go to ankle bootie/sandal for the summer. The silver necklace and white jeans are also from prior year cabi lines.
A nice way to transition this spring and summer look into fall is by switching out the white denim bottoms for green khaki pants and pairing with a darker tan sandal. This gladiator style sandal by Rockport Cobb Hill is not only stylish, but one of the most comfortable pair of sandals I own. So comfortable, in fact, I have two pair. The other a suede khaki color. I can’t even notice that I’m wearing a 1 1/4 inch heel. It feels like I have a pair of sneakers on. I also adore the bohemian style touch of the lace-up center.
Next, try trading out the gray tee for a denim look button down shirt as the cool and crisp air of fall starts to settle in. This is a great business casual look that I love wearing to work. The shirt is by Love Stitch clothing. The tencel fabric gives this shirt a flattering drape and it feels incredibly soft against your skin.
I hope I’ve helped you to embrace yellow as versatile color choice for your wardrobe and hope that you reach for something yellow the next time you want to brighten your day.
Until next week’s post, stay stylish and comfortable.
